Eat/Drink
While some of you live on The Vineyard, and some of you will be here for only a very short time, everyone’s gotta eat! Below we are sharing some of our more loved eateries.
BREAKFAST
7a Foods Best breakfast sandwich! And lunch sandwiches are pretty good too. Call ahead to order. West Tisbury. :)
State Road Restaurant only open for breakfast on Sunday, but their pastries are tasty and their coffee is the best in WT (I think). Nice ambience.
North Tisbury Farm They bring over pastries from La Maison Vilatte in Falmouth, and carry homemade breads as well. Good coffee and cute place to stop to pick up some snacks!
Artcliff Diner Classic, tiny, Great Diner style breakfast and beyond, it gets crowded quickly on the weekends. Vineyard Haven
Behind the Bookstore in Edgartown, has great pastries, coffee, and breakfast lunch and dinner options.
The Right Fork Diner Laid-back diner with traditional food and outdoor seating.
I’m sure I’ve forgotten some, and there are plenty more in other towns that we just don’t frequent!
LUNCH
Chilmark Store great sandwiches, and pizza by the slice or whole pies. They have daily whole wheat island grown specials, deep dish, plain and pepperoni. Pretty much the only place to stop for food or groceries after Alley’s. Good cold brew coffee. Call ahead. Chilmark.
7a Foods Again, great sandwiches, convenient stop before heading up island.
Little House Cafe my go to lunch spot for healthy salads with a twist… also have great mediterranean inspired sandwiches and other plates, good coffee and tea.
North Tisbury Farm Again, pick up some supplies and snacks and make your own!
Giordano’s Pizza Great for a quick slice of pizza. Doesn’t compare to New York or Italian style but it’s the best on the Vineyard. Cash only. Oak Bluffs.
Morning Glory Farm Good salad bar and soups (usually) and nice selection of produce and snacks. Edgartown.
Rosewater Market Sandwiches and soups, cookies, shop for gifts
Black Sheep Airport & Edgartown. Prepared salads, deli, beverages and gifts
Again, other towns also have some great options, but we never go to any of them! (Can you tell we don’t usually leave up island in the summer?)
DINNER
The Covington Edgartown, across from The Port Hunter, a Restaurant/ Bar that has good music sometimes. Local food and of the moment atmosphere.
Port Hunter More casual fare than the Covington, located in an old brick building. Cool atmosphere and live music later in the night.
Detente Edgartown. One of our favorite places to go out to dinner if we want a fancy dinner. Really great food. If it’s warm enough it’s nice to sit outside in the courtyard.
L’Etoile newly renovated, classic french cuisine.
Backyard Taco Great for casual eats and margaritas! Edgartown.
Atria Basement Best burgers on the vineyard
The Sweet Life Locally sourced and foraged ingredients. Hal and Erin bought this place a couple of years ago. A favorite.
Red Cat at Ken n Beck/ Cardboard Box Oak Bluffs. Honestly neither of us have been to either spot in awhile but they are well liked by some. Comfort food.
Beach Road Vineyard Haven. Seafood focused restaurant on the lagoon.
State Road West Tisbury. Local/seasonal
Menemsha! Get seafood from Larsen’s Fish Market or Stanley’s or burgers/fish burgers/ fries from The Galley and eat on the beach or docks!
Chilmark Tavern Local seasonal Fine dining in Chilmark central, right next to the Chilmark Store.
The Outermost Inn Can’t beat this view and the food’s not bad either. Reservations are a must. Go early and enjoy a beverage on the patio at sunset.
The Aquinnah Shop right at the cliffs, another great view, for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
FAVORITE FARM STANDS
Ghost Island Farm in West Tisbury, great selection of produce and local food products, flowers and more!
Mermaid Farm on Middle road in Chilmark has good milk, cheese and yogurt, and Mango Lassi’s, usually some greens as well!
North Tabor Farm on North road in Chilmark, good greens, eggs, and more!
Grey Barn Farm South Road just over the Chilmark line, new farm with great cheese and dairy and some produce and flowers as well.
Alley’s General Store a vineyard classic, very convenient spot
North Tisbury Farm Quaint farmstead for gourmet goods and produce and gifts

October is a hard month to predict the weather… it could still feel almost like summer with a chill at night, or it could be stormy and cold. Lets hope for the former. There is still plenty to do on the island in October, including leaf peeping, fishing, walking on beaches or trails, biking, checking out towns, and if you’re lucky you just might get in a beach day. The quieter more rural towns (and our favorites) are West Tisbury, Chilmark and Aquinnah. Oak Bluffs and the gingerbread houses are fun to visit and check out some island history, and Edgartown, the old whaling town is also beautiful, with lots of history.
There are a handful of bars on the island, The Ritz Cafe in Oak Bluffs usually has good live music, and The Port Hunter in Edgartown as well. Oak Bluffs and Edgartown are the main nightlife spots, with very different vibes.
There is tons of info online, or don’t hesitate to reach out to us for any questions or recommendations!
